fomo copy trading settings, every one explained
the copy flow asks a dozen questions and pre-selects none of them. that is deliberate. here is what each answer changes, and three sensible places to start.
copy trading settings decide three things: how much each copy spends, which of your trader's trades you take, and how a position leaves. on copyfomo a copy is never under $3, the default size is $50, and every guard below has a trade-off. set them before your first copy, because they apply the moment the flow is armed.
everything here comes from the copyfomo docs, which list every default. one rule to hold onto: settings made inside a trader's copy flow belong to that trader, and settings made in /settings apply to all of them. your minimum trade and your max chase are always account-wide.
sizing: how much each copy spends
| setting | options | default | scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| fixed amount | $20, $50, $100, custom from $3 | $50 | per trader |
| % of trader | 1%, 3%, 5%, 10%, custom 1 to 100 | none | per trader |
| max per trade | $50, $100, $250, custom | $250 | per trader, % sizing only |
fixed amount spends the same on every copy. they buy $400, you buy $50. they buy $2,000, you still buy $50. your exposure is predictable and disconnected from their conviction.
% of trader scales with them: at 10%, their $400 buy is your $40, their $2,000 buy is your $200. that includes the day they go huge, which is what max per trade is for. at 2%, a $30,000 print would be a $600 copy without a cap. the cap only trims % sizing; a fixed $500 is never cut to $250.
entry guards: which trades you take
| guard | what it skips | default |
|---|---|---|
| minimum trade | their trades under your amount | $20 |
| max chase | copies landing too far above their entry | you choose: 10%, 25%, 50%, custom, off |
| max impact | fills where your own order moves the pool too much | off |
| slippage | decides whether a trade fills, not what you pay | auto |
| market cap band | tokens outside your min and max | both off |
| first buys only | their adds to a token they already traded | all buys |
| cooldown | repeat buys of a token you hold, inside the window | 1 hour |
| max positions | new tokens past your count | off |
| same coin, two traders | first buy wins, or buy again | buy again |
max chase is the one worth thinking hardest about. it protects your entry price. we timed 29 first buys from a large fomo wallet: median +39% one minute after the leader's fill, +43% at fifteen minutes, most given back by sixty. the full study is here, and past results do not predict future ones, but the shape is the argument: without a chase limit you sometimes buy the candle your trader created.
minimum trade is the usual reason a copy stays quiet. traders clip small more often than people expect, so a high minimum filters out most of their activity. first buys only is set per trader and never blocks exits on tokens you already hold. the market cap band skips a copy when the market cap cannot be verified rather than guessing.
one rule you do not set: after a token leaves your wallet, copyfomo does not buy it back for 24 hours, for everyone. re-entering a coin one trader just exited, behind another trader, is a fast way to lose twice on it.
exit settings: how a position leaves
exit style is mirror by default: they sell 30% of their bag, 30% of yours is sold. all at once closes your whole position on any sell of theirs. either way, a near-full sell closes everything.
when your trader sells at a loss defaults to sell with them. hold when i'm down mirrors their exit only when your own position is in profit at that moment, and leaves the rest under your stop loss.
take profit takes up to 3 rungs (+50%, +100%, +300% or custom), each selling 25%, 50%, 75% or all. stop loss sells everything left at -25%, -50%, -80% or custom. both are off by default and stored per trader. when both would trigger, the stop wins. after a rung fires, the stop after a take profit defaults to breakeven: the stop on the rest moves up to your entry. more on stops in stop losses on memecoins.
and the switch over everything: pause all, in /settings or /copies. nothing is mirrored and nothing is sold until you resume.
starter setups by budget
these are starting points, not recommendations for your money. memecoins can go to zero, copying does not reduce that risk, and the right size is one you can lose entirely. the idea is simply to keep several copies of headroom in the wallet, because with only one buy's worth the copies after it wait.
| around $100 | around $500 | around $2,000 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| sizing | fixed $10 | fixed $40 | fixed $100, or 5% of trader |
| max per trade | n/a | n/a | $250 if using % |
| traders | 1 | 1 to 2 | 2 to 3 |
| max chase | 25% | 25% | 25% to 50% |
| first buys only | on | on | per trader |
| max positions | 3 | 5 | 10 |
| take profit | +100%, sell 50% | +100% sell 50%, +300% sell 25% | 3 rungs, keep a moonbag |
| stop loss | -50% | -50% | -50% or tighter |
the small budget leans on first buys only and a low position cap so that one active trader cannot spread $100 across a dozen tokens. the larger budget can afford a second or third trader, which makes same coin, two traders worth a deliberate choice: first buy wins keeps one position per coin, buy again lets a coin several of them like become your biggest bag. choosing who to copy matters as much as any setting, see which fomo traders are worth copying.
save it once
the last screen of the copy flow lists everything you chose before anything is armed. save it there and your next copy starts from those answers. reset defaults in /settings puts the account-wide guards back in one tap and clears take profit and stop loss, without touching the kill switch or per-trader settings. the full walkthrough of a first copy is in how to copy trade on fomo.
when you are ready, @copyfomo_bot runs the same flow, question by question, with none of it pre-selected. copyfomo is independent and not affiliated with fomo.
frequently asked
what are the best copy trading settings for fomo traders?
there is no single best set, but a sound start is a fixed amount per trade you would shrug at losing, a stop loss, a take profit rung that sells part of the position, and max chase switched on so you do not buy far above your trader's entry. then watch a week of copies in /copies before changing anything.
should i use fixed amount or percent of trader sizing?
fixed amount is the simpler default: the same dollar amount on every copy, so your exposure is predictable. percent of trader scales with their conviction, including the trade where they go very big, which is why copyfomo pairs it with a max per trade, $250 by default. a fixed amount is never trimmed by that cap.
what does max chase mean in copy trading?
max chase compares the price your copy would land at with your trader's own entry. if the price has already run further than your limit, the copy is skipped. with a 25% max chase and a trader entry at $0.010, a fill at $0.013 or more is refused. tight settings skip more fast movers, loose ones sometimes buy the candle.
what is first buys only?
first buys only copies a trader's very first entry into a token and skips their later adds. the idea is that when a trader has already traded a token before, much of the move is often gone. it is set per trader, and exits on tokens you hold are still copied either way.
how much money do i need to start copy trading on copyfomo?
a copy is never placed under $3, and the default size is $50 per trade. deposit enough for several trades, because with only one buy's worth in the wallet the copies after it wait. the right total depends on how often your trader trades and on an amount you can afford to lose entirely.
