fomo vs photon, two different answers to the same memecoin

fomo and photon both let you buy a memecoin in a tap. almost everything else about them is different: who they are built for, where your ideas come from, and what a trade costs.

fomo vs photon is a social app against a trading terminal. fomo is a mobile-first app where you follow traders and fund with apple pay. photon is a web terminal, per its own docs charging 1% per buy and sell, with limit, stop loss, take profit and dca orders. pick fomo for discovery, photon for execution control.

fomo from fomo.family and its blog, fee figures reported by third parties. photon from its docs, as of september 2026.

verdict: pick photon if you already run a solana wallet, find your own tokens and want order types. pick fomo if you want to see what proven traders buy, with a login instead of a seed phrase.

where photon is better

  • order types. photon's docs describe buy dip, stop loss and take profit orders with an expiry, and dca orders spread over time with a market cap range. if a stop is part of your plan, read what a stop loss can and cannot do on memecoins first.
  • execution control. you set priority fees and bribes per trade, and smart-mev protection is documented. on fast launches that control matters.
  • multi-wallet. up to 5 active trading wallets, and orders from several of them at once.
  • token screening. memescope filters new pump.fun and moonshot tokens by holders, dev holding, bonding progress, liquidity and volume.
  • a published fee. 1%, stated in its docs. you know what you pay before you start.

where fomo is better

  • other people's trades. the leaderboard ranks traders on realised pnl, and following one pushes their buys and sells to your phone. photon shows you tokens; fomo shows you who is buying them. fomo trading, explained covers why that loop moves prices.
  • onboarding. a normal login creates the wallet, and apple pay or a card funds it. no extension, no seed phrase. that is why fomo reaches people who would never install phantom.
  • multichain in one balance. fomo routes across several chains, with robinhood chain as the default venue. photon's docs are solana and ethereum.
  • gas. fomo says it sponsors gas on your behalf. on photon, network and priority fees are yours.
  • theses. traders write why they bought or sold, with their pnl and balance attached.

fomo vs photon fees, at small tickets

the headline rates mislead in opposite directions. photon's 1% is flat. fomo's reported 0.50% has a floor of about $0.95, which means below roughly $190 a ticket you pay the floor, not the rate.

ticketfomo (reported, one leg)photon (docs, one leg)
$25$0.95 (3.8%)$0.25 (1%)
$100$0.95 (0.95%)$1.00 (1%)
$500$2.50 (0.50%)$5.00 (1%)

before gas. fomo figures are third-party reports, fomo does not publish a rate; photon adds network and priority fees on top. the full fomo arithmetic is in fomo app fees.

on small, frequent trades photon's flat rate is cheaper. on larger tickets fomo's reported rate is. on thin memecoins, slippage usually costs more than either.

wallets and keys

both are self-custodial in the sense that matters: you hold a key. on fomo, the wallet is created behind your login and the key can be exported from the app, covered in fomo private key export. on photon, per its docs, the trading wallet's private key is revealed once when it is generated, and mobile users import it into phantom to move funds. save it the first time.

who each one suits

  • you trade from a desk, find your own launches and want orders working while you are away: photon. its docs also warn that pressing quick sell twice while a transaction is executing can fill both, which tells you who it is built for: people who click fast and know what they clicked.
  • you trade from your phone and your ideas come from people you follow: fomo. it also runs on desktop; fomo on pc covers what works there.
  • you are weighing several terminals: fomo vs axiom compares fomo with another desk-first tool.
  • you use both: common, and reasonable. discovery in fomo, execution where you prefer. just remember they are separate wallets and separate balances.

if you want to copy traders, not just watch them

neither app mirrors another trader's trades for you. fomo's follow button is a notification: you still press buy, after the move has started. we timed 29 first buys from a large fomo wallet: median +39% one minute after the leader's fill, +43% at fifteen minutes, most given back by sixty.

copyfomo is an independent telegram bot, not affiliated with fomo or photon, that mirrors a fomo trader's buys and sells into your own wallet at your size, within seconds, on robinhood chain, base, bnb and solana. memecoins can go to zero, and copying does not reduce that risk. if that is the missing piece, @copyfomo_bot starts from the fomo leaderboard or any profile.

frequently asked

is fomo better than photon?

they are built for different people. fomo is a social app: you follow traders, see their trades and theses in a feed, and fund with apple pay without touching a seed phrase. photon is a web trading terminal for people who already run a solana wallet and want limit orders, dca and control over priority fees. pick by how you find trades, not by which one is faster.

what are photon's fees?

according to photon's own docs, as of september 2026, it charges 1% on every buy and sell, taken from the initial amount, plus the usual network fees and any priority fee or bribe you choose to add. transfers between your own photon wallets are not charged. check its docs before trading, as fees can change.

what are fomo's fees compared with photon?

fomo does not publish a rate on its own site. third-party reviews put spot trades near 0.50% with a minimum of about $0.95, and fomo says it sponsors gas. photon's docs state 1% per buy and sell. at small tickets, fomo's reported minimum can cost more than photon's percentage: $0.95 on a $50 trade is 1.9%.

can you copy trade on photon or fomo?

not automatically. fomo gives you follow and notifications, so you still press buy after the alert. photon's docs do not list a copy trading or wallet tracking feature. automatic mirroring of a fomo trader's buys and sells into your own wallet needs a separate tool, which is what copyfomo, an independent telegram bot, does.

stop reading. start copying.

pick a trader from the fomo leaderboard, set your size, and the entries and the exits land in your own wallet while you sleep.
